Wang Zineng

Founder & Director

A pivotal figure in the Southeast Asian art market, Zineng Wang has shaped the landscape of Southeast Asian art curation and sales. Leading the Southeast Asian art division at Christie’s from 2011 to 2016, Zineng set numerous record prices for artists and achieved the highest auction sale total for Southeast Asian art in 2015. His efforts expanded the reach of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian art to New York and Shanghai, and he spearheaded private sales at Christie’s. Due to his successes, in 2019, he was appointed the Head of Modern and Contemporary Art, Asia at Bonhams.

Before founding Art Agenda, S.E.A., Zineng served as an independent curator and managed collections acquisition at the National Gallery, Singapore. His curatorial expertise extends to exhibitions at the Singapore Art Museum and the National University of Singapore (NUS) Museum. Zineng graduated from the Southeast Asian Studies Programme at the National University of Singapore in 2007, where he curated the Southeast Asian art collection and conducted research on modern and contemporary art in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Zineng's deep-rooted passion for Southeast Asian art and cultural heritage led him to establish Art Agenda in 2016. His vision for Art Agenda revolves around a unique approach to the secondary market, focusing on post-war and modern Southeast Asian art. Through facilitating transactions and placing hundreds of artworks, Art Agenda transforms private collections and enriches public institutions. In recent years, Art Agenda has expanded to include contemporary artists, creating curated thematic exhibitions that invite a dialogue between the past and present, reappraising the art of bygone eras.

Zineng’s work transcends borders, with a presence in Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia, where he continues to champion modern and contemporary Indonesian art. His commitment to the Southeast Asian art scene is reflected in Art Agenda’s mission to connect people and passion to art and collecting, underpinned by unparalleled knowledge and expertise.
