Ajeng Martia's (b. 1992) Mother’s Garden captures the role of memories in shaping our lives. In this work, she symbolises maternal love and sacrifice through figures of resin orchids—her mother's favourite plant— that evoke memories of her mother’s garden.

“This poem was written after a conversation with Ajeng about her work and its meaning. The poem requires a feminine voice and so is read by Khansa Dalilah and paired with the sounds of chatting and play between Ajeng and her daughter Mina”.

- Kurt D. Peterson on The Force of Life
