Throughout their lives, humans are always seeking boundaries while grappling with the desire to cross over them. Wanti Amelia (b. 1998) created the physical manifestation of that experience through form, lines and colours in Runa. Blue represents the boundless sea, while silver represents humans as modern and existential beings. By juxtaposing the two colours, we can see the boundaries between humans and nature.

“Wanti Amelia describes a metaphor where the ocean represents all that we do not know. Across a stark divide is our position as existential beings. For this audio I have separated ocean recordings from Sumba on one side, and on the other side, the sound of a cave, a cathedral, and a black hole”.

- Kurt D. Peterson on Ocean // Cave, Cathedral, Black Hole
