Nature fascinates Affandi greatly. The sun, sea and mountains are subjects of perennial interest. In his travels, Affandi painted impressive sights but also fell back to painting ubiquitous subjects such as the olive tree in Italy. In this way, he connects with nature and with his surroundings.
